The Sabios society thrived extremely well for many years. This was because the Sabions were able to harvest and farm  potatoes and peanuts.  There were plenty of these plants and they were not very hard to harvest. The Sabions never had much of a military threat expect for the tribes to the north. To fight off these raiders the Fuerte demanded a strong army. This then meant that there were barely enough farmers to feed the population.  So during bad seasons many Sabions went hungry.

One year the rains stopped coming and the fields began to dry up.   This puzzled many of the people but the previous year had been a good one so they had a  small surplus of food. So when the next planting season came around the people expected more water, but none came.  With out any rain it became extremely hard to grow peanuts, with not enough water to go around. This began to worry the people because the Fuerte was still demanding the same quota to feed his armies, but the farmers didn't not have enough food to meet the quota. The Fuerte began a cruel and unfair rationing of resources so that the poor farmers got even less food,  and many of them starved to death.

A poor farm hand named Chlea realized that while the workers around him were getting skinnier and skinner, the wealthy business owners and the government officials were getting fatter and fatter. Chlea thought that this was completely unfair and began to talk to his neighbors and friends about it. One day Chlea and some friends robbed a town storage building and distributed the food among all the farmers. Soon dozens of groups of farmers rose up to get their fair share. Eventually they formed one group and elected Chlea as their leader.

This infuriated the Fuerte, and he sent his soldiers into the villages to help stabilize the situation. Many of the soldiers saw the unfairness and even joined the farmers in their fight.  While the Sabions were in the middle of a civil war, many northern Aztec tribes began to organize themselves. They realized they could overtake the Sabions and win access to many resources.

During this time Chlea and his men were able to capture the Fuerte and execute him. Chlea instated himself as the new Fuerte. While Chlea was celebrating his victory, he did not realize the impending threat. Once Chlea realized that the Aztec's had mobilized themselves, it was far too late for him to raise an army. Chlea sent the men that he could,  but they were not enough.  Chlea was eventually captured and killed. Soon the Aztecs were able to gain control of the villages and take over the small towns. With no leader to organize them, a diminishing food source and invaders taking over their villages, the Sabios society had collapsed.
